They named him Smag back when he still had two eyes and no thoughts worth fearing. When he lost his left eye in a brawl, an enchanted relic was pressed into the socket. With it came genius and with genius came exile. Other goblins laughed at his rumination and raged at what they couldn’t understand. Eventually, he was cast out and found quiet refuge among the Fen Folk near the Marsh Chapel. There he tills the black soil as a yeoman to this day. In the distance, he can hear Gloam the Frog Doomsayer’s croaks of prophecy and flame and knows his own terrible brilliance bends toward the same crooked end.
